CASCAIS - SINTRA

Mum wanted to drive up the mountain to Sintra to get some flowers from the market by the side of the road today. I tagged along and brought my camera to take some pictures of the woods and the coastline, but unfortunately I had forgotten to charge the battery and so my snaps had to be quick. Besides, the sunshine was killing it today and I realised I must buy a filter for my lens asap.

We lived in Colares, Sintra, for a year when I was 8 years-old. My parents fell in love with a beautiful three-story house from the 30s and we left our seaside apartment for the country quietness, but it didn't last long. I asked my mum if we could drive by it and see what it looks like. I hadn't seen it in almost ten years, and was shocked to see how different it looks now that they've cut down all the ivy that covered its façade entirely. It lost most of its charm, I think. I wanted to take a picture of it but we couldn't stop the car, so I guess I'll do it some other time.
We wandered around those streets and ended up on the way to one of our favourite restaurants from back then, and since it was already 3 PM and we still hadn't had lunch we stopped to have some good old Cozido, and then knocked on a friend's door for coffee and a chat.

And some Golden Retriever love.

Then back home to Cascais, stopping along the way to take a few last photographs before my camera died, all the while wishing I had bought the bloody filter already.

There is a chance we'll go to Sintra again next weekend, and I'll try my best not to forget to charge my camera then.
